Jane Skelton – Sainsbury’s Head of Print & Packaging
I have a background in Design and over 15 years’ experience across the retail packaging sector, focusing on packaging technology and production and I have spent the last 6 years working for Sainsbury’s driving forward activity focusing on packaging reduction, innovation and major sub brand developments.
In 2015 I took the role of Head Print & Packaging within Sainsbury’s food / grocery business, responsible for the ongoing development and delivery of Sainsbury’s ambitious packaging strategy. Previously I have had similar packaging roles at M&S, Safeway and Iceland. In addition to that I was the Tesco Account Director for an artwork & reprographics company, based on site at Tesco managing their design & artwork process and I have also worked for a Packaging Design agency.
I am passionate about packaging being treated as any other ingredient as I believe customers should have a great experience with products starting with its packaging.
My presentation will give a understanding of retail, how it has changed in the last 20 years and what is predicted for the future. I will then relate this to what consumers expect and how the industry current skill set supports that. I will finish with what is missing now and what is required for the future of the food industry.
